Victims in Singapore lost S$1.1 billion to scams and cybercrime in 2024, a 70% jump from S$651.8 million the year before, according to the Singapore Police Force.

Business email compromise does not look like hacking. There is no malware, no broken lock, just a convincing email and a busy employee.

Any request to change bank details, rush a payment, or bypass normal approvals should trigger an independent, out-of-band check by phone using a known number, never the contact details in the suspicious email itself.

Deepfakes and AI-Enabled Deception Are the New Frontier
