No, especially for Module 1. The Cybersecurity Awareness & Essentials course is designed for employees and business owners without any technical background. It covers practical security behaviour, not coding or network engineering. Modules 2 (GRC) and 3 (Applied Controls) are aimed at professionals with some exposure to IT or security responsibilities, but do not require specialist technical qualifications to attend.

The three modules build on each other. Module 1 (Awareness & Essentials) is the foundation, for all employees, managers, and business owners. Module 2 (GRC) is for professionals who need to design and manage enterprise-level risk assessment and governance programmes. Module 3 (Applied Controls) is for those who manage or implement operational security systems, access controls, and incident response. Most learners start with Module 1 regardless of experience level, as it establishes the shared vocabulary and organisational context for what follows.

Yes, Module 2 (Cyber & IT Security GRC) explicitly covers PDPA compliance, MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines, and other Singapore-specific regulatory frameworks. The risk assessment and governance frameworks taught are designed to be mapped against these requirements, so what you learn is directly applicable to compliance work in Singapore’s regulated sectors including finance, healthcare, and government-linked entities.

Yes. Each module is standalone and can be taken independently. You receive a Statement of Attainment for each module you complete. If you later decide to pursue the full Certified Cybersecurity Catalyst certification, your completed modules count toward it, no repeat required. This means you can start with the module most relevant to your current role and build toward the full credential at your own pace.

After SSG funding, the nett fee per module varies based on your employment status, citizenship, and company size. Individuals typically pay around 30% of the full fee; SME employees may pay less after employer grants are applied. SkillsFuture Credit ($500 per Singaporean aged 25+) can be offset against the subsidised fee. Contact our consultants and we will calculate your exact entitlement before you commit to anything.

Assessment is competency-based, not technical exam-based. Module 1 (1-day) is assessed via two written assessments: a case study (30 min) and short answer questions (30 min), both conducted during class time. Modules 2 and 3 (2-day each) are assessed via a written case study (90 min) and an individual project presentation (30 min). Assessments are open-book and based on applying what you’ve learned to realistic scenarios, not memorising technical facts.

Module 1 is specifically designed for this. It is built for employees and managers across every business function, not just IT. Many organisations send cross-functional groups through Module 1 to establish a baseline security culture across the entire team. For corporate group bookings of 6 or more, Equinet can customise the content around your specific industry, tools, and threat environment. Contact us to discuss group rates and customisation options.

On completing all three modules you receive: a Statement of Attainment per module, the Certified Cybersecurity Catalyst programme certificate, all course materials, templates, and security frameworks, and three years of post-training support, including one complimentary refresher seat per module, monthly Ask Me Anything sessions with practitioners, and ongoing LMS access to updated course content.
