Your analysis is sound. Now make it impossible to ignore.
Course Description
What is This Course About?
Data does not influence decisions. Clear communication does.
By the time you reach this module, you have four modules of analytical and visualisation capability behind you. What this final course develops is the ability to bring it all together into a coherent, persuasive story that an executive audience can follow, trust and act on.
This is not a module about building more dashboards. It is about designing the narrative layer that gives dashboards meaning. You will learn structured storyboarding frameworks, strategic visual mapping methods, and the craft of aligning data, visuals and narrative so that each element reinforces the others rather than competing with them.
AI-assisted tools are integrated throughout to accelerate summarisation, refine clarity and improve the efficiency of communication preparation. You will also develop the ability to align your interpretation with subject matter experts, review and pressure-test your presentations against real stakeholder questions, and guide colleagues toward stronger data communication in their own work.
By the end of this course, you will be able to design visual narratives that make complex data understandable, credible and actionable for the people who matter most.

Course Outline
Inside The Course
This course progresses from narrative structure and storyboarding foundations to advanced storytelling-focused dashboard design, executive alignment, stakeholder review, and communication excellence. Topics in each unit are distinct from earlier modules, focusing on the narrative and communication layer rather than repeating analytical or dashboard-building techniques already covered.

Foundations of Data Storytelling and Strategic Visualisation
- Narrative structures for data communication: the arc from problem framing to insight to recommendation
- Strategic visualisation as a communication tool: how visual sequencing guides interpretation and shapes audience conclusions
- Storyboarding methodology for analytics: planning the structure of a data presentation before building it
- Developing a general framework and storyboard for communicating a data study from hypothesis to recommendation
- Identifying audience context and stakeholder expectations to define storytelling objectives before design begins
- Defining the data-visual-narrative triangle: identifying and articulating the linkages between data evidence, visual representation and narrative message
Advanced Dashboard Storytelling and Interactive Display Design
- Embedding narrative context in dashboards: annotation layers, insight callouts and contextual text elements that guide interpretation
- Advanced dashboard storytelling techniques: sequencing views, progressive disclosure and guided exploration flows
- Evaluating and introducing emerging visualisation tools and techniques for specific storytelling objectives
- Developing dashboards and scorecards with embedded analytics capabilities and narrative-driven advanced visualisation elements
- Designing display features for storytelling: navigation, layout, user interface and user experience principles for audience-specific data exploration
- Exploratory and diagnostic analysis framing: structuring analytical depth within a dashboard so it supports the story without overwhelming the audience
- Introducing and evaluating new or emerging visualisation tools that add communication value beyond what standard chart libraries provide
Executive Alignment, Review, and Communication Excellence
- Drawing key insights from data and constructing the executive narrative: moving from analytical output to strategic message
- Exercising editorial and visual judgment in presenting critical trends: what to emphasise, what to simplify and what to leave out
- Aligning analytical interpretation with subject matter experts: validation techniques before presenting to leadership
- Reviewing tables, graphs and dynamic displays against real stakeholder questions: pressure-testing presentations for gaps and misreadings
- Coaching and guiding others in data storytelling and visualisation: developing communication capability in teams and peers
- Features of effective data displays: applying display design principles to optimise clarity, credibility and persuasive impact
Assessment Methods
- Case Study Written Assessment
- Individual Project Presentation

No. The course covers structured storyboarding methodology, strategic visual mapping, narrative-dashboard integration, stakeholder alignment and team coaching. Presentation is the output. This course develops the underlying architecture.
AI-assisted tools are integrated to summarise analytical findings, refine executive language, and efficiently prepare narrative-ready outputs. The emphasis is on using AI to improve communication quality, not replace the analytical judgment behind it.
Yes. Understanding how to structure a data narrative, align the presentation with stakeholder questions, and evaluate whether a visual display communicates effectively is critical for anyone who commissions, reviews, or presents analytics work.
Completing Modules 1 to 4 is strongly recommended. The storytelling and narrative techniques in this module are most effective when you have the analytical depth and dashboard capability from the earlier modules to draw on.
Modules 3 and 4 develop tool-specific execution capability. This module develops the narrative and communication layer that sits above the tools — the framework for deciding what to show, in what order, with what emphasis, and how to align it with what your audience needs to hear.
Yes. Live executive presentation simulations are a core part of the course. You will present analytical findings as a structured narrative, receive structured feedback, and refine your communication in a supported environment.
