Across two modules, you will build a complete professional digital photography capability:
- Full manual camera control, including exposure triangle, histogram reading, and
- RAW versus JPEG workflow
- Lens selection, including focal length, crop factor, prime versus zoom lenses, and depth-of-field control
- Choosing lenses based on photography style, subject, and creative direction
- Natural light management and introduction to speedlights and continuous lights
- Lightroom Desktop workflow from import to export
- Structured 8 to 12 image photo story from a dedicated shoot
- Assessment: case study written assessment and individual project presentation
- Advanced camera controls, including back-button AF, metering modes, exposure bracketing, and eye-tracking AF
- Composition techniques using visual weight, figure-ground relationships, negative space, and visual tension
- Creative lighting and multi-light setup design for portrait, product, and location photography
- Directing people and portraits, including posing, expression, mood, and repeatable results
- Professional shoot planning from concept brief to shot list and final delivery
- RAW exposure strategy and file format decisions for stronger post-production results

Most photography courses teach camera settings. The Certified Digital Photographer 2.0 programme helps learners build a repeatable process for controlling the camera, using light, planning shoots, and creating photos with stronger creative direction.
Get Certified
Certification Pathway
To attain the Certified Digital Photographer 2.0 certification by Equinet Academy, complete the following modules:
- Module 1: Mirrorless and DSLR Photography Essentials (2 days, 16 hours)
- Module 2: Advanced Camera Techniques and Creative Lighting Photography (2 days, 16 hours)
- Pass all module assessments across both courses
Each module can also be taken as a standalone course. Learners who have already completed Module 1 as a standalone course may count it toward the Certified Digital Photographer 2.0 certification by completing Module 2.
Candidates who complete each module with at least 75% attendance and demonstrate competency in all assessments will receive the corresponding award for that module. Candidates who complete all two modules will receive the Certified Digital Photographer 2.0 certificate from Equinet Academy.

You will need access to a mirrorless or DSLR camera with at least one lens. Adobe Lightroom should be installed for editing workflow practice.
The recommended sequence is Module 1, then Module 2.
Yes. Each module can be taken as a standalone course. Both modules carry their own Equinet Academy Certificate of Completion independently.
Yes. Lighting equipment will be provided where required during the course. No prior studio lighting experience is required.
