What is This Course About?
Foundational skills get you to competence. This course gets you to be intentional.
There is a gap between photographers who take consistently good shots and those who take consistently great ones. The gap is not talent, nor is it equipment. It is the discipline of creative intention at every step.
This course is for photographers who have the fundamentals and are ready to demand more of themselves. You will develop full manual exposure control using Pro mode or a professional camera app, not adjusting sliders reactively but designing the exposure from a creative starting point. You will build a multi-lens shooting strategy that uses focal length as a narrative tool. You will work with directional light rather than simply finding good light. And you will develop intermediate Lightroom Mobile skills, including tone curve, HSL, and presets, to give a 10-image editorial series a consistent, deliberate visual identity.
The output of this course is not a collection of strong individual images. It is a series that looks like it was made by a photographer who knew exactly what they wanted.
Module 1 or equivalent foundational smartphone photography experience is required.
Target Audience

Prerequisites
What You’ll Need to Get Started
You should have:
- Completion of Module 1 or equivalent foundational smartphone photography experience
- Lightroom Mobile is installed and functional, with familiarity with the basic panel
- A smartphone with Pro mode or a compatible third-party camera app
- RAW capture capability: Verify your device supports this before Day 1
Course Highlights
What You’ll Learn
- Advanced composition beyond the rules, how to use layering, perspective distortion, visual tension, and negative space as active compositional forces rather than accidental byproducts
- Full manual exposure control: setting ISO, shutter speed, and white balance as an integrated exposure design in Pro mode or a third-party camera app (Halide, ProCamera, Camera+)
- How to shoot in RAW format on a smartphone, what it gives you in editing, and when it is worth the storage overhead
- How smartphone focal lenses behave differently from each other beyond simple magnification, how each one changes the perceived relationship between subject, foreground, and background
- How to develop a multi-lens strategy within a single shoot, using focal length switching as a deliberate narrative decision
- Light direction and quality as creative tools: frontal, side, and backlight effects; how to use shade as a soft diffuser; how a simple reflector changes the mood of a portrait; how golden-hour light changes surface texture
- Lightroom Mobile’s tone curve how it differs from the basic exposure slider, and it gives you what the slider can never give you.
- HSL targeted colour adjustment: how to select and shift a specific colour range without affecting anything else in the image
- How to build a personal preset in Lightroom Mobile from a completed edit and apply it as a starting point for a series
- How to produce a 10-image editorial series with a consistent visual identity, the standard that separates a curated portfolio from a collection of photographs

Yes. This course builds directly on the foundations of Module 1. If you have equivalent experience, you shoot manually, understand composition principles, and have used Lightroom Mobile, that also qualifies.
Pro mode in your native camera app is sufficient. Third-party apps like Halide or ProCamera are demonstrated and recommended for RAW control, but not mandatory.
Module 1 teaches you to shoot deliberately. This module teaches you to shoot with a creative vision, design exposure, build lighting, sequence across a series, and edit with a distinct visual identity. The standard is higher at every level.
A curated 10-image editorial series with a defined visual identity. A personal Lightroom Mobile preset. A significantly more demanding eye for your own work.
