Course Outline

  • What is change management?
  • Fundamental principles of change management and its importance in organizational success. (Kurt Lewin’s 3 steps change model theory)
  • Understanding the ADKAR model and how this model can limit resistance to organizational change.
  • What is Kubler Ross’ Change curves and the emotional responses that accompany them to aid in better management of the change process.

Instructor-led | Mode of Delivery (Lecture, Reflection, Didactic Questioning, Demonstration, Practice & Feedback)

  • Overview of conflict resolution models (e.g., Thomas-Kilmann, Interest-Based Relational (IBR) approach).
  • Exploring the techniques and strategies to use for conflicts resolutions – Avoiding, Competing, Accommodating, Compromising and Collaboration.
  • Self-Assessment: Participants complete a quick self-assessment to identify their primary and secondary conflict styles.
  • Strengths & Weaknesses: Discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of each style in different situations.
    Group Activity: Paired Discussion – “How My Style Impacts Others”: Participants discuss how their preferred conflict style might be perceived by colleagues and how it influences outcomes.

  • Case Study: Conflict Analysis, identifying the Root causes (interests vs. positions), Stakeholders & Power Dynamics, Emotional vs. structural factors.
  • Analysis of successful conflict resolution during change – (Disney)
  • Analysis of failed conflict resolution during change – (Nokia)
  • Extracting lessons and best practices from both case studies.
  • Group Activity: draft a resolution plan using the framework. Must include:
    • Strategies (collaboration, mediation, negotiation, etc.)
    • Communication plan (how to engage stakeholders)
    • Short-term & long-term actions
    • Metrics for success (trust, engagement, productivity)
