6 Months Free AI Tools in Singapore: How to Claim Yours

TLDR: What Will You Learn

• What it is: The SkillsFuture AI Subscription, launched 16 Sep 2026, offering six months of free access to selected AI tools.
• Who qualifies: Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above who attend an eligible AI course carrying the “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture, with the course ending on 16 September 2026 or later.
• The five tools: Eligible learners can currently choose from ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal, or Singtel AI Pass. You can select only one option, and the selection cannot be changed after the request form is submitted. Note that Singtel AI Pass works differently from the other options: it provides access to a suite of AI tools for three months, followed by access to one selected tool for a further three months.
• How to redeem: Attend an eligible course and look out for the redemption email after your attendance has been recorded. Submit the request form within 60 days of the notification email, select your preferred AI subscription, and follow the activation instructions if your request is successful.
• Deadlines: the benefit is tied to a claim window and a six-month usage period, so timing matters.

What the SkillsFuture AI Subscription Actually Is

If you have seen the headlines about 6 months free AI tools in Singapore and assumed it was too good to be true, let me set the record straight. It is real, but there is a catch that most people miss.

The scheme is a Budget 2026 initiative that provides eligible Singapore Citizens with one complimentary six-month AI subscription after they attend an eligible AI course. Eligibility is based on the prevailing SkillsFuture AI Subscription requirements, rather than simply completing any AI-related course.

How the Scheme Works

The process has four main steps:

1. Attend an AI course carrying the “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture.
2. Receive the redemption notification after your attendance has been recorded.
3. Submit the request form and select one of the available AI subscription options.
4. If your request is successful, follow the activation instructions sent to you.

The benefit is provided as complimentary access to an approved AI subscription. It is not a cash payout or general-purpose SkillsFuture Credit.

The SkillsFuture AI Subscription launched on 16 September 2026. For eligibility, the key date is the course end date: the eligible course must end on 16 September 2026 or later.

Why it's Linked to a Course

A common question is why the complimentary subscription is linked to an eligible AI course rather than offered independently.

The initiative is designed to help learners continue practising and applying AI after their training. The complimentary subscription gives eligible learners additional time to use AI tools in workplace and everyday contexts and deepen the skills introduced during their course.

Manpower Minister Dr Tan See Leng made a similar point when the scheme was first announced: “Like learning a language, developing true fluency in AI comes from consistent use.” The free subscription is built around that idea, giving you a runway to practise once the course has given you the fundamentals.

The SkillsFuture AI Subscription is separate from SkillsFuture Credit and has different eligibility criteria. The AI subscription is available to eligible Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above, whereas the base tier of SkillsFuture Credit is available to Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above.

If you want a taste of the kind of practical grounding these courses give, our ChatGPT user guide for the Singapore workforce walks through exactly the sort of workplace scenarios you will be expected to handle.

What 'Six Months Free' Covers

The six months refers to a subscription window on premium tiers of selected AI tools, not a lifetime licence. Once the six months lapse, you either continue paying yourself or step back to a free tier.

Which specific tools qualify, who counts as eligible, and the exact steps to claim your subscription are the questions everyone asks next. I cover each of those in the sections that follow, so keep reading before you commit to any course.

Who is Eligible for the Free AI Tools

Before you get excited and start filling in enrolment forms, let me walk you through exactly who qualifies. It is important to check the eligibility criteria before enrolling because not every AI-related or SkillsFuture-supported course qualifies for the complimentary subscription.

The good news is that the criteria for these 6 months free AI tools in Singapore are fairly simple once you break them down. Let me take them one at a time.

Citizenship and Age

The SkillsFuture AI Subscription is currently available to Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above.

Permanent Residents and non-citizens are not included in the current eligibility criteria for the complimentary AI subscription, although separate course-fee subsidies may apply to some learners depending on the course and their individual circumstances.

Course Start-Date Rule

To qualify, you must attend an eligible AI course that ends on 16 September 2026 or later.

The course does not need to start or be enrolled in on or after 16 September 2026 based on the current published eligibility criteria. What matters is that the course is eligible, carries the “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture, and ends on or after the qualifying date.

Always check the exact course run on MySkillsFuture before enrolling because programme terms and eligible course listings may change.

One-Subscription Limit

Each eligible person may redeem only one complimentary AI subscription, regardless of how many eligible AI courses they attend. You cannot enrol in three different AI courses and stack three free subscriptions.

So choose your course thoughtfully. If you are weighing up specialisations, my piece on whether a prompt engineering certification is worth it in Singapore can help you pick a direction before you commit that single claim.

My final piece of advice is boring but important: verify your own status on the official SkillsFuture portal before you enrol. Before enrolling, check the exact course listing on MySkillsFuture and confirm that it carries the “Free AI sub” label. SkillsFuture Credit balance is separate from eligibility for the complimentary AI subscription.

The Five AI Subscription Options You Can Choose From

Here is the part that trips people up: this isn’t a bundle. Eligible learners can currently choose one of five subscription options: ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal, or Singtel AI Pass. Your selection is final once the request form is submitted, so compare the available options before choosing.

Think of it as a single seat at the table. Choosing well means six months of real productivity gains. Choosing poorly means a subscription you barely open.

ChatGPT Plus

ChatGPT Plus is the general-purpose writing and conversation tool most people think of first. It suits anyone whose day is full of drafting, summarising, and answering the same kinds of questions, an HR executive writing job descriptions, or an admin lead turning messy meeting notes into clean minutes.

ChatGPT Plus can support tasks such as drafting and editing content, summarising information, research, coding assistance, presentation development, and analysis. Consider whether these capabilities match the tasks you expect to practise after your course.

Microsoft 365 Personal

Microsoft 365 Personal bundles Copilot into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, so it suits people whose work already lives in those apps, finance staff building spreadsheets, admin professionals drafting reports, or anyone whose day is one long string of documents and email.

Microsoft 365 Personal provides access to Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with built-in AI capabilities, together with cloud storage. It may be relevant for learners whose regular work involves documents, spreadsheets, presentations and email.

Google AI Pro

Google AI Pro puts Gemini inside Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, and adds NotebookLM for research and synthesis, along with some image and video generation, though for anything more serious in that direction our AI Video & Image Creation Course goes much deeper.

Google AI Pro itself suits people who already live in Google Workspace and want research or writing help without switching tools. Google AI Pro provides expanded access to Google’s AI capabilities and integrations across supported Google services. Relevant uses can include research, writing assistance, document work, data-related tasks and creative asset generation, depending on the features included in the current subscription.

Manus AI

Manus AI is an AI agent designed for multi-step knowledge-work tasks. According to the current MySkillsFuture description, supported uses include research, website creation, presentation slides, images, video, data analysis and visualisation. Check the current subscription terms and monthly usage allowance before selecting it.

Singtel AI Pass

Singtel AI Pass provides access to a curated suite of AI tools for the first three months. The current selection includes Manus, Hailuo AI, Otter.ai, MiniMax Agent, MiniMax Audio and AKOOL. After the first three months, you select one tool to continue using for a further three months.

This makes Singtel AI Pass structurally different from the other subscription options, so review its current terms before making your selection.

Practical tip: Matching your subscription choice to the tasks you want to practise can help you make better use of the six-month access period. This is a practical consideration rather than an eligibility requirement of the scheme.

Which Equinet Courses Qualify You to Claim

Here is the part most people miss when they chase 6 months free AI tools in Singapore: The subscription does not unlock the moment you sign up for anything vaguely AI related.

The complimentary subscription is available only after attending a course that is specifically eligible under the SkillsFuture AI Subscription initiative. Do not assume that every AI-related, SkillsFuture-supported or SWDA-funded Equinet course automatically qualifies.

Mapping your Goal to the Right Course

If you are a general business user, an office manager, an operations lead, or someone in HR who wants to use AI in everyday tasks, the Certified AI Practitioner (Business & Work Applications) course is the natural fit. It focuses on applying tools to real work situations rather than coding.

If you are a specialist, say a performance marketer or a data analyst, the AI-focused digital marketing and data programmes go deeper into your domain. These suit people who want to fold AI into campaign work, reporting, or analysis.

If you learn best by doing, the generative AI tool courses are hands-on. You spend the time prompting, building, and testing outputs, which pairs well with our ChatGPT user guide for the Singapore workforce once the course is done.

Why Accreditation Matters Here

SkillsFuture or SWDA recognition alone does not automatically make a course eligible for the complimentary AI subscription. The most reliable way to confirm eligibility is to check the exact course listing on MySkillsFuture for the “Free AI sub” label. That accreditation is not a nice-to-have; it is the exact condition the free tool offer checks for.

Confirm Eligibility and Check Funding First

Before you enrol, confirm the specific course is on the eligible list for the offer, because course listings and terms can change. A quick check saves you the disappointment of finishing training only to find it did not qualify.

While you are at it, look at funding. Many of these courses attract SWDA course fee support.

Course funding and the complimentary AI subscription are separate benefits. Eligible learners may receive course-fee funding depending on the course and their circumstances. Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may also be able to use their SkillsFuture Credit for eligible courses.

How to Claim Your Free AI Subscription Step by Step

Redemption is not automatic. After attending an eligible course, follow the official notification and redemption process carefully and submit your request within the stated deadline. Follow the sequence below and you will not leave anything on the table.

Before the Course

1. Confirm that you are a Singapore Citizen aged 18 or above.
2. Check the exact course on MySkillsFuture and confirm that it carries the “Free AI sub” label.
3. Confirm that the eligible course ends on 16 September 2026 or later.
4. Make sure your contact details are current so you can receive the redemption notification after attendance is recorded.

Singpass may be used as part of the redemption process, but having an “active Singpass” is not listed as a separate eligibility criterion for the subscription itself.

After Attending the Eligible Course

After you attend the eligible course and your attendance has been recorded, look out for the SWDA notification email containing the redemption instructions.

Any attendance, assessment or certification requirements attached to your course should still be completed as required by the training provider, but the published SkillsFuture AI Subscription eligibility criteria do not state that passing an assessment is a separate universal requirement for receiving the subscription.

After your attendance has been recorded, look out for the redemption email. Use the request form provided to select your preferred AI subscription. You have 60 days from the date of the notification email to submit your request.

Activating your Chosen Tool

Now for the fun part. On the request form, you select one of the five eligible AI tools, ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal, or Singtel AI Pass, and you can only pick one, so choose the tool that matches the work you actually do. Once you submit the form, changing your selection is not allowed, so take the few extra minutes to be sure.

If your request is successful, you will receive activation details by email. Follow the instructions and any activation deadline stated in the message.

Click through, sign in to the tool provider, and activate your subscription.

Submit the request form within 60 days of the notification email. Once you receive the activation instructions, activate the subscription within the deadline stated in those instructions.

Do not imply that the six-month subscription period is already running during the 60-day request window.

Once your tool is live, put it to work straight away by mapping one repetitive task you can automate.

Deadlines and Time Limits You Must Watch

There are two stages to keep separate: Redemption and Activation. The published MySkillsFuture rules give you 60 days from the notification email to submit the redemption request. If approved, follow the activation deadline contained in the instructions you receive.

Let me walk you through each one so you do not lose access to something you have already earned.

Redemption Window

You have 60 days from the date of the notification email to submit your redemption request. Use the deadline in the official notification rather than calculating the period from your course start or enrolment date.

Submit the request within the stated 60-day period. If you experience an issue with your redemption, refer to the contact or support details provided in the official notification.

Six-Month Subscription Period

The benefit provides six months of complimentary access under the applicable subscription terms. Follow the activation instructions you receive and review the provider-specific terms so you know when your access begins and ends

That said, do not delay activation so long that you slip past the redemption window. It is a balancing act.

A practical rule: diarise the activation the moment you complete your course. Block a calendar reminder that day, before life gets in the way, so you never lose the benefit to a forgotten deadline.

Programme Availability

The third factor is the scheme itself.

Under the current published eligibility rules, the relevant date condition is that the eligible course must end on 16 September 2026 or later. Eligibility is not currently stated as requiring the course to start or be enrolled in after 16 September 2026.

Programme terms may change, so check MySkillsFuture before enrolling. That start-date rule is worth repeating because it trips people up.

The initiative is currently active and programme terms may be updated over time. Refer to the official MySkillsFuture SkillsFuture AI Subscription page for the latest eligibility criteria, participating subscriptions and redemption requirements.

The safest habit is to check the official SWDA page directly before you plan your enrolment. Details on redemption windows, usage duration, and scheme extensions can change, and the SWDA page is the source that will always reflect the latest position.

How to Get the Most Value From Six Months of Free Tools

Six months sounds generous, but it slips by fast if you treat the free access as a novelty you poke at once a week. The trick is to treat those months as a runway, not a trial, and land something real before it ends.

Here is my honest view: the goal is not to try the tool; it is to make the tool part of how you work by the time the free window closes.

Pick the one tool that matches your daily grind

Do not spread yourself across every free offer at once. Choose the tool that touches something you already do most days.

Choose based on the tasks you want the tool to support. Depending on the subscription, common use cases can include writing and research, document and spreadsheet work, data analysis, presentations, creative generation or multi-step AI-assisted workflows.

Build the Habit Early, Not in Month Five

Momentum is everything. I tell people to force a small daily use in the first two weeks, even if it feels clumsy, because that is what turns access into a reflex.

Start by identifying a small number of recurring tasks where the tool can be used regularly. This makes it easier to evaluate whether the subscription is useful for your actual work.

For analytical or reporting work, test the AI tool on appropriate non-sensitive data and compare the time required, output quality and level of human review against your existing workflow.

Do not claim a specific time saving unless it comes from measured evidence.

Pair it With Skills and Document your ROI

Free tools give you the engine, but you still need to know how to drive. Pairing the subscription with a structured course, especially one you can fund through SkillsFuture, is what separates dabbling from real capability.

Then keep a simple log. Note roughly how many hours the tool saves you each week and what that time was worth.

That record does three things for you:

• It justifies paying for a renewal once the free months end.
• It supports a case for stacking the tool into a wider digitalisation move, potentially with an Enterprise Singapore productivity grant.
• It shows clients or your boss concrete proof, not vague claims about AI.

By month six you should not be asking whether the tool is worth keeping. You should already know, in hours and dollars, that it is.

Common Mistakes That Cost People Their Free Subscription

The main eligibility checks are straightforward, but overlooking one of them can prevent a successful redemption. Verify the criteria before enrolling and again before submitting your request.

Think of this as a friendly pre-flight check. A few minutes of verification now saves you from that sinking feeling later.

Check the Course’s Eligibility Before Enrolling

Not every AI webinar, online programme, funded course or SWDA-recognised training programme qualifies for the subscription.

Before enrolling, find the exact course on MySkillsFuture and confirm that it carries the “Free AI sub” label. That label, rather than the course simply being AI-related or funded, is the clearest current indicator that the course qualifies.

A key mistake to avoid is assuming that any AI-related or funded course automatically qualifies. Course format or accreditation alone does not determine eligibility. Check whether the exact course carries the “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture.

Before you pay for anything, cross-check the exact course title against the official eligible course list. Before paying, verify the exact course directly on MySkillsFuture and confirm that it carries the “Free AI sub” label.

Eligibility Slips that Quietly Disqualify You

The second cluster of mistakes is about who you are, not what you enrol in. The current subscription eligibility is limited to Singapore Citizens aged 18 and above. Permanent Residents and non-citizens are not included in the published eligibility criteria.

Here are the checks I run through every single time before committing:

• Confirm that you are a Singapore Citizen aged 18 or above.
• Confirm that the exact course carries the “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture.
• Confirm that the course ends on 16 September 2026 or later.
• Submit the request within 60 days of the notification email.
• Review the five subscription options before submitting because your selection cannot be changed afterwards.
• Follow the activation instructions and deadline provided if your request is successful.

That last point matters. The request must be submitted within the stated 60-day window, so record the deadline when you receive the notification email.

Choosing the wrong tool is subtler but just as wasteful. Once your subscription is live, make the six months count by learning to use it well, and our guide on 10 prompt engineering best practices every beginner should know is a good place to start.

Get these right, and you claim successfully on the first try.

Conclusion

Let me bring this back to the one thing that matters most. The 6 months free AI tools Singapore benefit is real, it is generous, and it rewards people who move first.

Here is the short version. Eligible Singaporeans can unlock six months of a premium AI tool at no cost, but not out of thin air. You can request the subscription after attending an eligible AI course and receiving the official redemption notification.

The main timing requirement currently published is the 60-day period from the notification email to submit your request. Programme terms can change, so check the official MySkillsFuture page for the latest requirements.

I know schemes like this can sound like there is a catch. There is not. Enrolling in a qualifying course is only the first step. You must meet the published eligibility criteria, attend the eligible course, receive the redemption notification, submit the request within the stated deadline and follow the activation instructions if approved.

If you are considering an Equinet Academy AI course, check the WSQ AI in Digital Marketing Course for the Free AI Subscription designation and verify the corresponding “Free AI sub” label on MySkillsFuture before enrolling.

It is the logical next step because it is built for real work applications, not theory, which means you learn to use AI on your actual tasks and walk away ready to claim the subscription that supports them. Act now, and let the early mover advantage work for you.
